THE TIVVY TRUNDLER, 2008 DATE TO BE CONFIRMED

Travelling in style - the Thornycroft charabanc at Exmouth

Following a number of requests, I have arranged another west country tour based at Tiverton. We will use one of our vintage Bedford coaches for the tour, which is therefore limited to a maximum of 20 group members.

 OUTLINE ITINERARY

Wednesday) We leave the island via Yarmouth, and following a mainland pick up at Brockenhurst station head westwards through Dorset into Devon

Thursday) We follow the River Exe to Exmouth and visit the World of Country Life. Amongst other attractions there is a fine collection of steam and vintage vehicles, and we hope we can arrange a short ride in the superb 1919 Thornycroft charabanc! (A Real gem). We hope it will also be possible to include a visit to one of the small local breweries, either Exe Valley or Topsham & Exminster, with perhaps a chance for some product sampling!

Friday) Morning free to enjoy Tiverton itself, and perhaps visit the town museum which houses the "Tivvy Bumper" locomotive, before we take a leisurely horse drawn canal boat on the Grand Western Canal. A really relaxing afternoon!

Saturday) We drive to Bishops Lydeard, near Taunton, for the West Somerset Railway, which is the UK's longest heritage railway, running alongside the Quantock Hills to the Bristol Channel coast and Minehead.

Sunday) Time to return home.

OUR HOTEL

We will be based at the 3 star Tiverton Hotel, a comfortable modern hotel which we have used on many previous tours. All bedrooms are on ground or first floor. Travel insurance is available for this tour at £15 per person. If you would like to join us I would request a deposit of £50 per person please.
