The Baltic Coast &

Lower Saxony,

September 26th - October 4th

Following a number of requests for another tour to the north German baltic coast, I have added an autumn departure, based partly in Rostock, followed by a few days in Braunschweig (Brunswick).

Day 1) Mid morning departure from London to Brussels, and thence onward to our overnight stop at Wuppertal.

Day 2) Onward via Hamburg to Rostock

Day 3) To Bad Doberan for the “Molli” narrow gauge line, perhaps with a chance to continue on to the old town of Wismar later in the day.

Day 4) A free day. An opportunity to visit the old city of Stralsund, but I know that one or two folks would like to go to the Peenemunde area.

Day 5) A day to enjoy narrow gauge steam on the island of Rugen

Day 6) Leave Rostock and travel to Braunschweig.

Day 7) Visit the old city of Hildesheim – a city which we regularly travel through en route to the Harz, but have never included in a tour, and possibly also return via the old town of Wolfenbuttel.

Day 8) A free day with numerous options. You could travel to Berlin or Potsdam, or maybe hop down to Wernigerode for a steamy fix.

Day 9) Return to London.

We will be based at InterCity hotels throughout, and all have the advantage of being located close to their respective stations - so convenient for rail travellers.

Tour price is £1095 per person sharing twin / double room, with £280 single supplement if required, and as usual on our continental tours will be arranged on a B&B basis.

I hope that this broad outline offers an itinerary which will appeal to a variety of interests, returning to old haunts, and introducing a new area too. As usual, may I request a £200 per person deposit to confirm bookings please – hopefully we can run the tour with a minimum group of 12.
