Berlin, Potsdam and steamers of the Spree & Havel, June 17th - 23rd

A  new tour centred in the German capital, designed to explore the surrounding lakes and rivers by a variety of veteran, and even one modern(!) steamships.

Tuesday) Eurostar from London to Brussels, thence onward via Koeln and ICE to Berlin

Wednesday) A private charter with the 1902 built steamer Nordstern, with the remainder of the day free to explore the city.

Thursday) By train to the old town of Brandenburg.

Friday) A brand new steamship today, the Europa, launched in 2005 for a cruise in the Mecklenburg lake district from Waren.

Saturday) Potsdam, a town of palaces and gardens of the former rulers of Prussia, lies just south west of Berlin, and here we board  the Gustav, for a cruise, with time afterwards to visit the town and maybe visit the Sanssoucci Palace.

Sunday) A day in Berlin, with a short trip by the Kaiser Friedrich, and hopefully the steam tug Andreas, which is normally based in the historic harbour display.

Monday) By ICE train to Koeln and thence via Brussels to London.

I have secured the Ibis Hotel Ostbahnhof, conveniently situated close to one of the city’s main stations.

Tour price is £745 per person sharing twin / double room to include travel with the group, excursions as outlined and hotel accommodation as usual on a bed and breakfast basis. Single room supplement, if required, is £180.
