Stockholm & The Archipelago, July 8th - 17th
Our last tour to Stockholm was oversubscribed so we are offering a repeat for 2008. Travel overland by rail is very straightforward, now that the Oresund link between Denmark and Sweden is open, although you may prefer to fly and join the tour in Stockholm. Stockholm is home to a fine collection of veteran steamships, which for a short period during the summer, operate a network of cruises around the amazing archipelago suurounding the city.

Wednesday) ...Copenhagen, thence via Oresund link with afternoon arrival in Stockholm.
Thursday) We travel to the university town of Upsala for a journey on the narrow gauge museum steam railway to Lenna and Faringe.
Friday) Two coal fired veterans today. By train to Sodertalje to join SS Ejdern for cruise to Stockholm. Afternoon free, then evening cruise towards Norrtalje by SS Blidosund, returning by motorship.
Saturday) Day cruise to Ljustero by the steamer SS Storrskar
Sunday) Today SS Norrskar , one of two steamships still retained by the major ferry operator takes a day sailing to the yachting resort of Sandhamm in the outer archipelago.
Monday) A free day to enjoy the city, and, if you wish, to visit the Wasa museum
Tuesday) By coal fired steamer Mariefred to Mariefred, thence a ride on the heritage steam line to Laggesta.
Wednesday) Late morning departure to Copenhagen. Join overnight sleeper service to...
Thursday) ...Arrive Koeln. Thence by Thalys and Eurostar to arrive London early afternoon.
We will use the Terminus Hotel in Stockholm, situated close to the central railway station. Tour price is expected to be £1175 per person sharing twin / double hotel room. Single supplement £325, but please note single berth accommodation on outward and return journeys is very limited. As usual, this tour is arranged on a bed and breakfast basis.
